Present: Supervisor Halbleib, Treasurer Abrahamson, Supervisor Townsley and Clerk EnghAbsent: Chair Vidas
- Meeting was called to order by Supervisor Townsley at 6:30pm.
- Supervisor moved to have #8, Rural Insurance moved up to the #4 spot on the agenda. Supervisor Halbleib seconded motion carried.
- Supervisor Townsley moved to approve July 2026 minutes with corrected typos, Supervisor Halbleib seconded, motion carried.
- Nicole was here from Rural Mutual Insurance to go over our policy. Her report and the information is on file.
- Chris read the treasurer’s report which was then put in the file.
- Dumpster Monitor’s report: Nothing to report.
- Equipment and Road report: All equipment is running just fine. Twisted Oak was out and did work on Gore Hollow. Supervisor Townsley moved that we hire them again to finish Gore Hollow, focusing on the upper tree limbs. Supervisor Halbleib seconded, motion carried. There are 200 yards of gravel left from our original 1100. Turn arounds have some gravel dumped on them.
- Building permit update: Kevin Dempsy’s permit was approved for a pole shed/storage shed. Vernon County ok’d everything and all is good to go.
- First public comment: There were a couple of questions about the battery box on the dump truck and the trees that still need cutting for the county to take over, do we have the money for that?
- Town Announcements: Primary election is tomorrow; everyone needs to get out and vote. Two poll workers and the clerk went through the training that was offered.
- Rental Tax information: Research is still being done on this. More next month
- Supervisor Townsley gave a report about the meeting with Phil Hewitt on July 27th, Supervisor Halbleib also reported. We are in talks with the County to do our winter maintenance. Still need to have a few things worked out, but collaboration is key. We are looking to the surrounding towns about doing some of the roads that we have in common to cut down on the County’s involvement.
- Fire Association Invoice: There was not a regular meeting for the association. They will be meeting for their annual meeting on Aug. 19th. Supervisor Halbleib will be pushing to get the invoice at that time.
- Bridge repair update: Lyster road bridge and Harrison Hollow are the two that need to be repaired. We did not receive any grant money for this but hope to get some from the LRIP grant more to come on this information.
- WI DOR Innovation grant: There will be a second period to apply for the grant, we are waiting to hear when that will be.
- Emails to .gov and Google workspace: Supervisor Halbleib is still working on this.
- CPC updates: Carrie said everything is still going well, and survey input is still being added and looked over. There will be no meeting for September and October one is still being decided on for a date.
- Second period for public comment: Reassurance that we do have more money to spend on tree cutting that needs to be done once Twisted Oak is paid. One question about the meetings being recorded or live streamed, when will this happen or is it still going to happen? Supervisor Halbleib is still working on it. It is encouraged that we work with something like Google Workspace instead of a private proprietary shop because of the possible data loss, hacking issues, and possible viruses. Treasurer Abrahamson let everyone know that the assessment reports will be mailed on September 21st, Open book is October 13th, from 10-2 and Board of Review is the 21st of October from 6-8pm.
- Supervisor Halbleib moved that we approve paying the monthly bills for July 2026 of $20,488.69, Supervisor Townsley, seconded. All in favor, motion carried.
- Future agenda items: CPC updates, .gov emails, , Google drive, personnel policy, , State land trust fund, rent tax, Liberty Server approved, MOU from County, Twisted Oak, Robert’s Rules of Order.
- Next meeting date is September 14th at 6:30pm.
- Meeting was moved to adjourn by Supervisor Townsley, at 7:24 pm, Supervisor Halbleib, seconded all in favor motion carried.
Respectfully submitted,
Sharon Engh
