Present: Chair Vidas, Supervisor Halbleib, Treasurer Abrahamson, and Clerk Engh

Supervisor Townsley had an excused absence

  1. Meeting was called to order by Chair Vidas at 6:30pm. A motion was made by Chair Vidas to move #11 on the agenda to #7, and that we approve the special meeting minutes with the board meeting minutes with the correction to say April, not March. Second, Supervisor Halbleib, motion carried.
  2. Chair Vidas moved to approve April 2026 minutes and the special meeting minutes from Monday, May 4, 2026. Supervisor Halbleib seconded, motion carried.
  3. Chris read the treasurer’s report which was then put in the file.
  4. Dumpster Monitor’s report: Town dump days went well; we received 80 yds of trash.
  5. Equipment and Road report: The Sterling will be going in for repairs this week. The shop furnace bill with the one bid is $4200, we are waiting on a couple more bids. Pete will order the fire extinguishers needed from U-line saving $157, 2 5# and 1 10#.
  6. Building permit update: Danielle Olson and Isiah Jones paid for a building permit for a pole shed, and since it was started before the permit was obtained, they paid the late fee of $250. Chair Vidas made the motion that the Town of Liberty issued a building site permit to Jerry Green to construct a mini storage building located at S6476 Stat Highway 131-tax parcel 028-00511-0002.Supervisor Halbleib second, motion carried.
  7. First public comment: Ray Reynes asked about Calcium Chloride for the road in front of his house on Gore Hollow. In years past the Town has paid for it or re-imbursed him and he is wondering if he can do the same this year. He was given the okay to go ahead. He then asked about Terry Theis and wondered if he was doing okay. Paul Linskins added that Terry was hospitalized with a severe case of Lymes from a tic bite but was doing well now.
  8. Town Announcements: We received a letter from Tara Johnson saying that she is working hard for the Towns to get money for road infrastructure and will continue to work toward the resolution that we sent in.
  9. Fire Association representative decision was tabled until June’s meeting and it will be decided then who will represent the Town of Liberty.
  10. Open book and BOR dates: Because of our re-evaluation this summer we will be having the open book and BOR at later dates. We will need to meet to adjourn and that will be announced at the annual meeting.
  11. Town plan for road maintenance: Chair Vidas informed us that the town will be going with the County for winter road maintenance and Orlin will continue until October 1st. We will investigate applying for the innovation grant and if we receive it we will look at having the county do future work for us.
  12. Citizen’s First Bank, where our safety deposit box is at requires a motion made for those who can get into it and the minutes sent to them. Chair Vidas moved that Jason Vidas, Sharon Engh, and Chris Abrahmson, individually, are authorized to access the safe deposit box located at Citizens First Bank Viola. Supervisor Halbleib seconded, motion carried.
  13. Bridge repair update: Applications for grants have been turned in to LSSIP we will find t late June if we receive money.
  14. Fire Charge amendment signing will be done in June.
  15. No updates for the email.gov progress
  16. CPC updates: Carrie said they will meet on June 1st and start incorporating the survey results into the plan update. Meeting will be from 6:30-8pm.
  17. Second period for public comment: Mike Mueller reminded everyone that he stated at the beginning of the fencing issue that when the survey markers are in, real ones, he would then move his fence if need be. There have not been any actual markers as of yet. Chair Vidas said that the lawyer from WTA informed him this is an issue between the property owners not the town. The town is responsible for deciding how the fencing responsibilities are divided up between landowners. Carrie Vanek thanked Adrean for the contribution and pre-work he did for working with the County, Chris for updating it, and Jason for looking at the roads and Orlin for his 40 plus years of work and service.
  18. Chair Vidas moved that we approve paying the monthly bills for May 2026 of $7981.32, Supervisor Halbleib, seconded. All in favor, motion carried.
  19. Future agenda items: CPC updates, .gov emails, gravel costs to Liberty residents, open book, BOR, Fire invoice, fire board representative, Renewal of Liquor license and servers, County Work
  20. Next meeting date is June 8th at 6:30pm with BOR Meeting to adjourn at 6:20pm.
  21. Meeting was moved to adjourn by Chair Vidas, at 7:22pm, Supervisor Halbleib, seconded all in favor motion carried.
