6:30 PM Minutes
Board members present: Chair Orlin Engh, Supervisor Bill Townsley, Supervisor Jason Vidas, Clerk Sharon Engh, and Treasurer Chris Abrahamson
- The meeting was called to order by chair Engh at 6:30pm.
- The new officers were installed.
- Motion to approve the minutes from April 2025 minutes by Supervisor Townsley, Supervisor Vidas seconded, all in favor, motion carried.
- The treasurer’s report was read, with corrections and put on file
- Dumpster Monitor Report: Paul said clean-up days were terribly successful, and he thanked the entire town for filling up the dumpster. GFL has been called to come and pick them up.
- Road Report Allen reported that they have been doing some fences have been pulled, extensive trimming has been done, new door on the Town Hall, and Orlin has some grading on the roads. The trees next to the town hall will cost $200 to cut down, and Supervisor Vidas volunteered to talk to Bill Alexander about it since they are his trees.
- Building permit update: There was one granted to Terry and Carol for putting in a shipping container.
- First period for public comments: Terry Theis would like to see the ballots in the Spring list the supervisors running with numbers. This way it is easier to read.
- Citation and other ordinance updates: Chris would like to push this off to the June meeting.
- Town Hall improvements: Painting on the outside will start at the end of the month, done by Felton and paid for out of the ARPA funds. Coleman construction is doing the new ramp and deck once the painting is done. We received the 2nd community grant and will be putting in new fire signs. Chris suggested that we seriously look at building a new Town Hall in about 4 years.
- Update on Old dump: Susan Mueller: Susan did lots of research and talked with the DNR. We need to keep fencing up around the perimeter, with gates that lock along the road. The first thing we need to consider is the safety of the people.
- The Board of Review is May 2nd, and the Open book is on April 25th. We will be renewing our contract with Chimney Rock in May. Chris handed out what needs to be looked over.
- Chimney Rock contract renewal: The board members were senta copy of the contract to look over. With a little discussion Chair Engh made a motion to renew the contract with Chimney Rock Assessment, seconded by Supervisor Townsley, motion carried.
- Town Announcements: There are new leadership workshops starting in June that the town board should be taking. Everyone should sign up if they are doing it virtually by the 16th of May.
- Comprehensive planning updates: There were none, they didn’t meet but will be meeting on the 2nd of June.
- The picnic for the Town of Liberty is going to be July 12th, at the Park Pavilion in Viola. It is Potluck style and will cost $35 for rent.
- Illusion Drive update: A letter will go out stating they, Wanda Lewison and Shannon Buckles, have 3 weeks to get the shed moved off the neighbor’s property or we will start fining them. It will be a certified letter.
- Chair Engh called the meeting to go to closed session per the WI Statute 19. To discuss a possible raise for the town helper. Supervisor Vidas seconded the motion, all in favor, meeting was closed.
- Back in open session, moved by Supervisor Vidas, seconded by Supervisor Townsley, motion carried. Supervisor Townsley moved that we give Timm Bender a 50-cent raise starting the next pay period, Seconded by Chair Engh, motion carried.
- Second period for public comment: Paul brought up that the electrical line will by buried from the top of the hill down on Gore Hollow by Vernon Electric in a month.
- Chair Engh moved to approve the monthly bills of $6,507.64. Supervisor Townsley seconded all in favor, motion carried.
- Future Agenda items: Ordinance and citation updates, Picnic, Town Hall improvements, renewal of liquor licenses, comprehensive plan updates
- Next meeting will be at the Town Hall, at 6:30 pm, on June 9, 2025
- Chair Engh moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:28pm, Seconded by Supervisor Vidas, motion carried.
