- Meeting held to inform the public about the Watershed Project Plan for the West Fork Kickapoo Watershed Project. The document shared tonight is from the Natural Resources Conservation Service in cooperation with Monroe and Vernon Counties under the authority of the Watershed Protection and Flood Prevention Act (PL 83-566) and in accordance with section 102 (2)© of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (PL 91-190)
We welcome comments and suggestions that will be sent back to the parties involved by February 20th.
The proposed action is all nine dams will be decommissioned by excavating a notch in each dame large enough to the 100-year frequency, 24-hour frequency storm without stormwater impoundment.
The dam in Jersey Valley County Prak will be replaced about 1,000 feet downstream of the existing, failed structure.
